Control Tab

The Control Tab is the 1st tab item of the tab control section. This tab allows you to command motion on your valve and change the mode of the system.

Take Control

  • The Take Control checkbox allows you to alternate in between PLC Mode and GUI/Computer Mode.

Motion Buttons

  • The Open, Close, and Prefill Motion Buttons allow you to command motion to the valve if and only if the Take Control checkbox is checked.

  • Notice how in the picture the Close button is disabled.

    • This is because the valve is already at closed/target position.

  • The Current State Label and the Motions Buttons are tight together.

  • There are 3 Motion Buttons:

    • OPEN: This button commands the valve to go to its origin/open position.

    • CLOSE: This button commands the valve to go to its target/close position.

    • PREFILL: This button commands the valve to go from the open or close position to the prefill position.

Mode Label

  • The Mode Label displays the current active mode of the system.

  • There are 5 different modes available:

    • Computer Mode

    • PLC Mode

    • Local Mode

    • Repeat Mode

    • ABORT Mode

  • Computer Mode: This mode lets you control the valve from the RapidValve GUI. You get in this mode when the Take Control Checkbox in the Control Tab section is checked.

  • PLC Mode: This mode lets the PLC control the valve. You get in this mode when the Take Control Checkbox in the Control Tab section is unchecked.

  • Local Mode: This mode lets you control the valve from the control panel/cabinet. You get in this mode by turning the key in the control panel/cabinet to on.

  • Repeat Mode: This mode allows you to set the valve in a repetitive open and close motion. It is useful for demoing the product. You get in this mode when the Repeat Mode Checkbox in the Admin Window/Panel is checked.

  • ABORT Mode: This mode notifies the user/operator that motion has been aborted. You will get in this mode if and only if you have aborted motion. If you are ever in this mode you will need to restart the drive.

Current State Label

  • The Current State Label displays the current active state of the valve.

  • There are 10 different states in which the valve can be:

    • Full Closing Sequence..

    • Valve is Closed

    • Full Opening Sequence..

    • Valve is Open

    • Opening to Prefill..

    • Holding at Prefill

    • PLEASE WAIT.. MOTION IN PROGRESS

    • Attempting to clear Obstruction..

    • Power Disabled! Opening..

    • I/O Testing Mode

  • Full Closing Sequence..: This indicates that the valve is moving towards the close/target position.

  • Valve is Closed: This indicates that the valve is not in motion and stationed at the close/target position.

  • Full Opening Sequence..: This indicates that the valve is moving towards the open/origin position.

  • Valve is Open: This indicates that the valve is not in motion and stationed at the open/origin position.

  • Opening to Prefill..: This indicates that the valve is moving towards the chosen prefill position.

  • Holding at Prefill: This indicates that the valve is not in motion and stationed at the chosen prefill position.

  • PLEASE WAIT.. MOTION IN PROGRESS: This indicates that the valve is in motion and trying to find its origin/open position and its target/close position. Appears when homing the valve.

  • Attempting to clear Obstruction..: This indicates that the valve was trying to reach the close/target position and there was an obstruction on the way. This will make the valve return to its origin/open position and then try to reach the target/close position again.

  • Power Disabled! Opening..: This means that the drive has lost power and the valve is trying to reach the origin/open position.

  • I/O Testing Mode: This means that you have enables I/O testing mode in the admin panel. This is used to test all I/O in the control panel/cabinet.
